Configuring Dial-Up for Windows Vista

The following information shows you how you can configure your modem with Windows Vista.

1. Open Phone and Modem Options

From your start menu, select Control Panel and then click on the Phone and Modem Options Icon.

2. Identifying your Modem

Click on the Modems tab. You should see a modem listed there. If you do not, please click on Add and follow the prompts.

3. Dialing Rules

Open the Dialing Rules tab and click on New

4. Location and Dialing Rules

Type in your Location Name and any dialing rules you may need to use with your telephone service.

5. Initilisation Strings

The key to getting a modem to work is often getting the right initilsation string or driver. That's because every brand and model of modem is a little different. To insert initilisation strings, click on the Modem tab, then Properties and Advanced to enter the appropriate strings.
